The Ceder  Axarquia (Association  for the Rural Development of the Axarquia) was founded in 1.992 under the formula of association without  profit spirit, that joins the wills of the various economics and social organizations that act in the region,  based on the need to establish a long term strategy for the development of the Axarquia, based on the use of its main resources, in a wide sense.
  


This planning process allowed the inclusion of our zone within the LEADER initiative and later, in 1994 within the established things in LEADER II.

During the planning process and development of activities, in a period of about 10 years,  not only the economic projection of the region has been improved, but it has been a significant improvement  regarding the natural, historic, artistic and cultural patrimony, acquiring a greater resources of services, a significant reduction of unemployment levels, a  generalized improvement in the incomes,  economic diversification towards new sectors,  the use of all its idle resources and the modernization of its business network, and at the same time, more participation of the women and young people in this process.
